Doorkeep captures, triages, routes, and documents. That is the whole job. Being clear about where the agent stops is more useful than a long feature list, so here it is.
On a call, the agent will not
Give advice of any kind. No legal, medical, or financial guidance to callers. No safety instructions, no protective actions, no troubleshooting a caller through a problem.
Make commitments. No repair promises, no timelines, no binding agreements on your behalf.
Dispatch anyone. It captures the request and routes it. It does not send vendors, schedule repairs, or authorize work.
Answer steering-risk questions. Neighborhood demographics, school quality, crime, religious institutions. All redirected to you.
Answer pet policy, rent and fees, or lease term questions. These are stored in your property knowledge but deliberately routed to you rather than read aloud. The liability of a wrong answer is higher than the convenience of a right one.
Things Doorkeep is not
Not a phone system. It works alongside what you already use, whether that is OpenPhone, RingCentral, or a landline.
Not a texting platform. Doorkeep notifies you by SMS, but it is not a two-way tenant texting product.
Not an outbound caller. Doorkeep answers inbound calls. It does not make calls out to tenants or prospects on its own.
Not a rent collection tool. Out of scope.
Not a replacement for your Fair Housing program. The guardrails reduce risk. They do not discharge your obligations.
Current limits
U.S. phone numbers only. No international availability, and no timeline for it.
English only today. The agent handles calls in English. Spanish is in active development. We are not putting a date on it until it is ready, and it is not something to buy on today.
Why the list is public
Property managers carry real legal exposure. An AI that improvises on a 2am call about a gas smell is a liability, not a feature. The limits above are the product working as designed.
