A payment failed — what happens next

What a failed or past-due payment means and how to restore access.

Written by Andy Peters

If a payment fails, we'll email you and ask you to update your card. Fixing the payment restores your access right away.

What you'll see

  • An email letting you know a payment needs your attention.

  • If the payment stays unresolved, access to Doorkeep is paused and you'll land on a payment-required screen when you sign in.

How to fix it

  1. Go to Settings → Account.

  2. Click Open Customer Portal.

  3. Update your payment method or complete any required confirmation (some cards ask you to verify a charge with your bank).

  4. Once the payment goes through, access is restored automatically.

What to expect

  • Only the account owner can update billing. If you're a team member, let your owner know.

  • A failed payment doesn't delete your data — your contacts, call history, and settings are all still there when you're back.

  • If you've fixed the card but still see a warning, give it a minute for the update to sync, then refresh.
